Use sharing and grouping to practise division

The worksheet contains 20 questions using facts from the 2, 5 and 10 tables, with space for thinking and a separate answer section.

  1. Start with counters or small objects and make equal groups.
  2. Write the division calculation to match the groups.
  3. Complete a few questions, then check using multiplication.

Try this example

For 20 ÷ 5, make groups of five counters. Four groups use all 20 counters, so 20 ÷ 5 = 4. Check: 4 × 5 = 20.

Equal groups must have the same number in each group. England’s Year 2 programme includes multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 tables.
